FAQs
How do I start therapy with you?
It’s easy! The first step is an “initial consultation” - a 20-ish minute phone call to review how I work and what you want from therapy, and see if we might be a good fit to work together. If at any time we determine another therapist might suit you better, I'll help you find some other options. Email me and we can schedule that call ASAP. Make sure to check your spam folders for confirmation emails.
Which insurances do you accept?
Aetna, Anthem, Blue Cross Blue Shield. Carelon Behavioral Health, Cigna, Curative, Independence Blue Cross, Optum, Oxford, Oscar, Providence health plan, Select Health Colorado, United, UMR
How much does therapy cost per session if I’m using insurance?
That depends on your co-pay and those vary ranging anywhere from $0 to $50 and up. Bring your insurance information to our phone call and we can check your co-pay. It typically takes just a few minutes.
What if I don’t want to use my insurance?
There are many reasons why people choose not to use insurance to pay for therapy. Some might not want a mental health diagnosis on their medical record - something insurance requires in order to pay for therapy. Some have a co-pay that is super high for whatever reason and they don't want to use those benefits. Reach out and we can talk more about what is best for you. The current self-pay/non-insurance rate is $170 per session.
Is it difficult to get in for an appointment or reschedule my appointment?
Not at all! I make sure my clients have plenty of options when they need to schedule or move an appointment, so I do not overbook my schedule. My practice is roughly 1/3 face-to-face client sessions, 1/3 administrative work (documentation, billing, outreach, etc.), and ⅓ peer consultation and continuing education (coursework, research, treatment planning, etc.). I tell all of my clients - if you don't see something on my online schedule that works for you, just reach out and check with me. Sometimes I can adjust my schedule to accommodate requests.
What is your cancellation policy?
Appointments canceled with less than 23-hour notice are considered a missed appointment and will incur a $75 missed appointment fee. You'll get a 48-hour email reminder, a 24-hour text reminder, and then you have about 1 hour to cancel that appointment without being charged the fee. We will review this policy when we talk. If you have any questions or concerns, keep those in mind and we can chat about it.
